Hello everyone, the topic of my speech today is "raising the sail of entrepreneurship".
University Campus used to be the birthplace of new ideas, new science and new culture. When we re-examine todays university campus according to this concept which has been inherited for more than 20 years, we suddenly find that the students are inevitably assimilated by the broader and more tempting world outside the courtyard wall. The era of white clothes is over, and college students are more realistic in the form of employment, going abroad to make money and even paying debts. Coupled with the fierce financial storm, more and more college students are facing the embarrassing problem of unemployment after graduation. Facing the severe situation, I cant help asking: college students, are you ready?
"Four dreams of youth" tells us that the ideal of life and the dream of youth should be realized by wisdom. The key is to persistently create and grasp opportunities. Nowadays, the party and the state have issued many policies to encourage and support college students entrepreneurship. Why cant we accept the invitation of the times and embark on the road of unlimited hope? Maybe you need to ask what entrepreneurship is. Entrepreneurship is the courage to take the road that others have not gone through, entrepreneurship is not afraid of the difficulties and obstacles on the way forward, entrepreneurship is to seek the positive realization of self-worth in continuous development! But what about the other side? What is entrepreneurship? It may be a failure in reality, or it may be a disappointment after a taste of the world. Are you scared? no Because I know that only innovation is the inexhaustible driving force of national progress. If we young people choose, we will never regret it. Even if we fail, we have to smile and get up and move on!
We should be glad that we are in an unprecedented large testing ground. After a country has experienced a heroic transformation and progress, it is bound to usher in an era of more and more great politicians, scholars and entrepreneurs. We have reason to believe that we are going through such a process, and college students with vision and enthusiasm for entrepreneurship are the most suitable seeds. So lets work together to create our own blue sky!
My speech is over, thank you!

Ladies and gentlemen, good evening!
Tonight, we are meeting here to celebrate this special, peaceful, silent and holly night. Here and now, allow me,on behalf of all the members of the school committee, to express my hearty regards and seasonal greetings to all of you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
And I am very glad to tell you that we have two distinguished guests from England to join us tonight to celebrate this special Christmas Eve with us together. I take with me the memory of Friday afternoon ACM happy hours, known not for kegs of beer, but rather bowls of rainbow sherbet punch. Over the several years that I attended these happy hours they enjoyed varying degrees of popularity, often proportional to the quality and quantity of the accompanying refreshments - but there was always the rainbow sherbert punch.
I take with me memories of purple parking permits, the West Campus shuttle, checking my pendaflex, over-due library books, trying to print from cec, lunches on Delmar, friends who slept in their offices, miniature golf in Lopata Hall, The Greenway Talk, division III basketball, and trying to convince Dean Russel that yet another engineering school rule should be changed.
Finally, I would like to conclude, not with a memory, but with some advice. What would a graduation speech be without a little advice, right? Anyway, this advice comes in the form of a verse delivered to the 1977 graduating class of Lake Forest College by Theodore Seuss Geisel, better known to the world as Dr. Seuss - Heres how it goes:
My uncle ordered popovers from the restaurants bill of fare. And when they were served, he regarded them with a penetrating stare . . . Then he spoke great Words of Wisdom as he sat there on that chair: "To eat these things," said my uncle, "you must excercise great care. You may swallow down whats solid . . . BUT . . . you must spit out the air!"
And . . . as you partake of the worlds bill of fare, thats darned good advice to follow. Do a lot of spitting out the hot air. And be careful what you swallow.

adies and Gentlemen , Good afternoon!
Im very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. today my topic is “youth”. I hope you will like it , and found the importance in your youth so that more cherish it.
First I want to ask you some questions:
1、 Do you know what is youth?
2、 How do you master your youth?
Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions:it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .
Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . Nobody grows old merely by a number of years . We grow old by deserting our ideals.
Years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . Worry , fear , self distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust .
Whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being ?s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of whats next and the joy of the game of living . In the center of your heart and my heart there?s a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young .
When the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80.
Thats all ! Thank you!

good evening, my fellow americans.
tonight i want to talk to you on a subject of deep concern to all americansand to many people in all parts of the world, the war in vietnam.
i believe that one of the reasons for the deep division about vietnam isthat many americans have lost confidence in what their government has told themabout our policy.
the american people cannot and should not be asked to support a policywhich involves the overriding issues of war and peace unless they know the truthabout that ght, therefore, i would like to answer some of thequestions that i know are on the minds of many of you listening to andwhy did america get involved in vietnam in the first place?how has thisadministration changed the policy of the previous administration?what has reallyhappened in the negotiations in paris and the battlefront in vietnam?whatchoices do we have if we are to end the war?what are the prospects for peace?now let me begin by describing the situation i found when i was inaugurated onjan.
20th: the war had been going on for four years.
thirty-one thousand americans had been killed in action.
the training program for the south vietnamese was behind schedule.
five hundred forty-thousand americans were in vietnam with no plans toreduce the number.
no progress had been made at the negotiations in paris and the unitedstates had not put forth a comprehensive peace war was causing deepdivision at home and criticism from many of our friend, as well as our enemies, view of these circumstances, there were some who urged withdrawal ofall american forces.
from a political standpoint, this would have been a popular and easy courseto follow.
after all, we became involved in the war while my predecessor was inoffice.
i could blame the defeat, which would be the result of my action, on him --and come out as the peacemaker.
some put it to me quite bluntly: this was the only way to avoid allowingjohnson’s war to become nixon’s i had a greater obligation than to thinkonly of the years of my administration, and of the next election.
i had to think of the effect of my decision on the next generation, and onthe future of peace and freedom in america, and in the us allunderstand that the question before us is not whether some americans are forpeace and some americans are against peace.
the question at issue is not whether johnson’s war becomes nixon’s war.
thank you!

Sports are more than competitions. To me, they mean growth under the care of others. I learned this the hard way.
I used to be very shy and often felt lonely. Although I did well in all the academic subjects, I was afraid of physical education. My classmates often laughed at me.
“Look at that girl,” they said. “Her feet don’t leave the ground when she runs!”
Their words embarrassed me. Moreover, whenever the teacher organized some competitive games, no one in the class liked to have me as their partner or team member. As a result, I often ended up looking at others enjoy their games.
Things would go on like that if not for a sports meet in my high school. By mistake, my name was put on the list of those who would compete in the women’s 1500 meters race. By the time people found the mistake, it was too late to change.
My desk-mate was a natural athlete. She said to me, “I couldn’t run that race in your place, because I’ve signed up for three items already.” Other athletic girls of the class said the same.
I was utterly dumbfounded. 1500 meters! Running against the best runners from other classes! And in front of students of the entire school! It would be the worst nightmare I’d ever have!
“You still have time to catch up because there is still one month before the sports meet,” they all said this to me, including my teacher.
My desk-mate patted me on the shoulder, “Cool! You will run for our class! And we will do training together.” Yes, this is not just for myself, but for my class too, I said to myself. But still, 1500 meters to me was like Mount Everest to a beginning climber. I had no idea even how to start my preparation.
Fortunately, my desk-mate gave me a hand. Every afternoon after class, several of us ran together. When the fear of being laughed at struck me, I saw others running right beside me. They gave me strengths. While we were running, some others would stand by the tracks cheering for us.
One month certainly couldn’t make me a good runner. But when I was standing behind the start line, I no longer felt lonely or afraid. I saw my classmates standing by the tracks waving at me as if about to run beside me.
With the shot of the starting gun, I dashed out and ran as fast as I could, as if it were a 200-meter race. Soon I was out of breath and slowed down. Other runners passed me one by one, and gradually I had no idea how many of them were still behind me. My legs were getting heavier and heavier, and I might fall down at any moment. However, I suddenly heard my classmates chanting my name. My desk-mate even ran along the tracks beside me and cheered for me at the same time, just like the month-long training we did together.
As expected, I was almost the last to cross the finish line. Immediately, my classmates held my arms and urged me to walk on my feet and not to sit down. I was surrounded, with all kinds of drinks handed to me. I felt a kind of warmth I had never felt before. Even though I was almost the last to finish the race, I was full of confidence that I would improve in the future.
That sports meet was an unforgettable experience. The memory of my classmates cheering for me, holding my arms and handing me drinks stays fresh on my mind. Sports are no longer about winning or losing. They give me a lot of confidence, both confidence in my fellow students and confidence in my own potential. I am no longer lonely, no longer afraid. Sports have brought me close to my classmates and helped us grow together.
Now, I participate in the sports meet every year. Even if I am not competing, I would help my classmates with their practice, just like the way my desk-mate and others ran with me.

Ladies and gentlemen, youth is precious. It is a time of our lives where we are energetic, idealistic and passionate but also clueless, insecure and naive. This small fragment of time in our lives may sometimes feel like a grey area between childhood and adulthood. A time where most of us feel lost but yet excited about what’s to come. It is a mixture of bliss, toxicity and adrenaline. Youth is bright and sunny but it is also dark and stormy. Let me explain.
Youth is happiness. Youth is trying things for the first time. It is being a bit braver, a bit bolder, a bit... mercurial! Perhaps, for some, it is the first time we fall in love and it’s magical - like a story in a fairytale. Youth now, is spending time on the Internet, with our friends, on our hobbies, on the things we enjoy - but, all this time is not time wasted because we are happy. Youth is a Pandora’s Box of memories with childhood friends and high school classmates - making fun of our teachers behind their backs and sometimes copying each other’s homework.
But youth is also pain. It is a time of metamorphosis and sometimes we learn things that are simply excruciating. For those who fall in love, youth is your first heartbreak and it feels like the end of the world. Youth is a time for goodbyes - the friends we used to see every day are now scattered across the globe and everyday becomes once a year. Youth is a time for acceptance - where we get rejected by universities, by our parents and even by ourselves. We beat ourselves up over things we can’t change yet don’t understand - why did that university not accept me? Why am I not good enough? Why?
Youth is both happiness and pain. It has moments of highs and lows, light and dark. It is the zenith and the nadir. You can’t have one without the other. Rather, it’s a balance of both - a yin and a yang, a complete whole.
So ladies gentlemen, do not fear the darkest of nights because it will always be followed by day - the boy or girl who broke your heart will never meet the spouse of your future, the friends you thought you’d never see again come back to you - perhaps on your wedding day and to those who didn’t think that we were good enough, well, look how far we’ve come.
Thank you.

Good morning, honorable judges,
Recently, due to the increasing number of population, China has become a country with a big problem of balancing the relationship between housing price and people’s demand for dwelling .The fact that housing prices is soaring everyday actually sparkles heated debates among both citizens and peasants. People multiply daily are complaining against the skyrocketing housing prices.
Yesterday, I saw a TV program through Shenzhen channel concerning the soaring housing prices in our country. That program dispatched many journalists to have interviews with the public in which they are asked about what’re their opinions of the theme. Unexpectedly, most of the interviewees make complaints about the soaring housing price. They hold firmly to belief that such state of affairs is irrational and abnormal. The higher housing prices are, the less people who can afford it. Hence, this may conduce to exceedingly severe living problems. With no lodgings to live in, people begin to do something immoral, and more crimes will come forth, then, social instability ensue. Out of this point, some people may blame the government for not being able to command macroscopic regulation such as not cracking down on illegal purchasing approaches. While others hold the view that some special groups should takeresponsibility for the soaring housing prices problem. As some wealthy people or powerful personages are in pursuit of being wealthier by owing more houses through proper or improper ways, the housing prices are forced to be raised. Constant complaints against soaring housing prices will continue unless that tendency drops off.
After stating this universal complaint against soaring housing prices, I would like to come up with my viewpoints. Personally, I deem that this problem is really a hot potato. It depends on the governmental control and personal morality. However, in order to stop the housing prices from going up, I stick to the idea that the central government should make some effective laws, levy more taxes on house property just as western countries do to restrict rich people to purchasing and selling their houses. With the mutual efforts made by people and the government, there is no denying that the complaint against soaring housing prices will disappear one day.
Thank you for all your listening!

Good morning/afternoon, dear professors and fellow students! Standing here, I am extremely excited to talk about a topic that has always inspired me - the power of dreams.
As college students, we are at a stage where dreams are like seeds, ready to be planted in the fertile soil of our hearts. Dreams give us a sense of purpose. When I was a freshman, I was confused about my future. However, after joining a volunteer project in a rural school, I witnessed the poor educational conditions there. At that moment, I dreamed of becoming an educator who could make a difference in those childrens lives. This dream has since guided me to study hard, participate in relevant internships, and constantly improve myself.
Dreams also fuel our perseverance. In the process of chasing my dream, I encountered numerous difficulties. There were times when I failed in my teaching practice, and I felt frustrated. But my dream always reminded me that every failure is a stepping - stone to success. Just like Thomas Edison, who had thousands of failures before inventing the light bulb. His dream of bringing light to the world gave him the strength to persevere.
Moreover, dreams connect us with others. When we share our dreams, we inspire those around us. In our dormitory, we all have different dreams, but we support each other. One of my roommates dreams of being a software engineer. He often shares his learning progress with us, and his enthusiasm has motivated me to work harder on my own goals.
In conclusion, dreams are not just wishes in the air. They are the driving force behind our actions, the light in the dark, and the bond that unites us. Let us hold fast to our dreams, for they have the power to transform our lives and the world around us. Thank you!

Ladies and gentlemen, its a great honor to be here to discuss the significance of English learning for us college students.
In todays globalized world, English has become the most widely used international language. Firstly, excellent English skills open up more career opportunities. Many multinational companies require their employees to be proficient in English. For example, during my internship at an international trade company, I found that being able to communicate fluently in English with foreign clients was crucial. I was responsible for handling emails and participating in video conferences with overseas partners. My English skills not only helped me complete my tasks successfully but also caught the attention of my superiors.
Secondly, English enables us to access a vast amount of knowledge. Most of the top academic resources, such as international research papers, online courses on platforms like Coursera and edX, are in English. When I was working on a research project about environmental protection, I had to read numerous English - written studies. These materials provided me with new perspectives and methods, which greatly enhanced the quality of my project.
Thirdly, learning English enriches our cultural experiences. Through English, we can watch original English - language movies, read classic English novels, and listen to English - speaking podcasts. We can understand different cultures, customs, and ways of thinking. It broadens our horizons and makes us more open - minded.
However, learning English is not an easy task. It requires consistent efforts, such as reading English books every day, practicing speaking with partners, and listening to English broadcasts regularly. But the rewards are well worth it. Lets all make the most of our college time to improve our English proficiency. Thank you!

Good day, everyone! Im here to talk about the value of volunteering, an activity that has brought me many precious experiences during my college years.
Volunteering allows us to give back to society. Last semester, I volunteered at a local nursing home. I spent time chatting with the elderly, helping them with daily tasks like cleaning their rooms and accompanying them for walks. The smiles on their faces when we shared stories made me feel a strong sense of fulfillment. I realized that even small acts of kindness can bring so much warmth to others.
Moreover, volunteering helps us develop various skills. When organizing a charity sale for a childrens welfare home, I learned how to plan an event from scratch. I had to communicate with different people, including sponsors, donors, and other volunteers, to ensure the success of the sale. This experience improved my communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
Volunteering also broadens our social circle. In volunteer activities, we meet people from different backgrounds, ages, and professions. I made friends with a retired teacher who volunteered at the community library. She shared her teaching experiences and valuable life lessons with me, which greatly influenced my view of life.
In a nutshell, volunteering is not just about helping others; its also about self - growth and building a better community. Lets all take an active part in volunteering and make the world a more beautiful place. Thank you!

Honorable professors and dear classmates, today I would like to focus on a topic that is vital for our college life - the importance of time management.
In college, we have more freedom than ever before, but this also means greater responsibility in managing our time. Time management helps us balance our academic and personal lives. For instance, I have a tight schedule with several courses, club activities, and part - time jobs. By making a detailed to - do list every day and allocating specific time slots to each task, I can ensure that I attend all my classes on time, complete my assignments, and still have time for relaxation.
Effective time management improves our efficiency. When we plan our study time well, we can absorb knowledge better. I used to struggle with procrastination, leaving my assignments until the last minute. As a result, the quality of my work was poor. But after learning time management techniques, such as the Pomodoro Technique, where I work for 25 minutes and then take a 5 - minute break, I found that I could focus better and finish my tasks more quickly.
Moreover, good time management allows us to pursue our hobbies and interests. I love painting, and by managing my study time efficiently, I can set aside a few hours every week to paint. This not only relieves my stress but also enriches my college life.
In conclusion, time management is the key to a successful college experience. Lets all learn to manage our time wisely and make the most of our college years. Thank you!

Dear fellow students,
As we stand at the crossroads of youth, challenges are not obstacles but stepping stones to growth. College life is a journey filled with academic pressures, career uncertainties, and personal dilemmas. Yet, it’s precisely these challenges that mold us into stronger, more resilient individuals.
Think about it: every difficult assignment forces us to expand our knowledge, each failed experiment teaches us the value of perseverance, and every conflict with peers hones our communication skills. When I first joined a debate club, I was terrified of public speaking. My hands shook, my voice trembled, and I often forgot my lines. But instead of backing down, I practiced day and night, watched countless videos of great orators, and sought feedback from my teammates. Slowly but surely, I overcame my fear and became a more confident speaker. This experience taught me that challenges are opportunities in disguise.
Moreover, in a rapidly changing world, embracing challenges equips us with the adaptability needed for success. Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing industries, climate change demands urgent action, and global tensions require diplomatic solutions. As future leaders, we must not shy away from these complex issues but actively seek ways to contribute. Whether it’s joining a research project on sustainable energy or volunteering for a community service program, every small step counts.
So, my friends, let’s face challenges head - on. Let’s see them as chances to learn, to grow, and to make a difference. Remember, the only limit to our future is the extent to which we dare to embrace challenges today.
Thank you!

Ladies and gentlemen,
In this era dominated by smartphones and social media, the question arises: Is reading still relevant? My answer is a resounding yes. Reading is not just a pastime; it’s a powerful tool that enriches our minds, broadens our horizons, and shapes our perspectives.
First, reading is a gateway to different worlds. Through books, we can travel back in time to witness historical events, explore far - off galaxies in science fiction novels, or step into the shoes of characters from diverse cultures. When I read “To Kill a Mockingbird,” I was transported to the racially - divided South of the United States, understanding the struggles and triumphs of its characters on a profound level. This immersive experience allows us to develop empathy and cultural sensitivity, qualities essential in our globalized society.
Secondly, reading enhances our cognitive abilities. Studies show that regular reading improves vocabulary, critical thinking, and creativity. Unlike passive forms of entertainment, reading requires active engagement as we interpret meanings, analyze plots, and form our own opinions. For instance, when solving the mysteries in a detective novel, our brains work hard to piece together clues, sharpening our logical reasoning skills.
However, the digital age has brought both opportunities and challenges to reading. E - books and online libraries make access to literature easier than ever, but the abundance of information also leads to shallow reading habits. We tend to skim through articles instead of delving deep into them. To truly benefit from reading, we must make a conscious effort to set aside time for focused reading, whether it’s a classic novel or an academic paper.
In conclusion, reading remains as crucial as ever. It’s a source of wisdom, inspiration, and personal growth. Let’s embrace the power of reading and make it an integral part of our lives in this digital age.
Thank you!

Dear friends,
The world is facing an environmental crisis of unprecedented magnitude. Climate change, deforestation, and pollution threaten the well - being of current and future generations. As college students, we have a responsibility to take action and work towards a sustainable future.
Sustainability is not just a buzzword; it’s a way of life that balances economic development, social progress, and environmental protection. One of the most pressing issues is climate change. Rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and melting ice caps are clear signs that our planet is in distress. We can make a difference by reducing our carbon footprint. Simple actions like using public transportation, conserving energy at home, and recycling can collectively have a significant impact.
In addition to individual efforts, we should also advocate for systemic change. We can participate in environmental campaigns, support policies that promote renewable energy, and encourage businesses to adopt sustainable practices. For example, many universities are now partnering with local communities to plant trees, create green spaces, and raise awareness about environmental issues. These initiatives show that when we work together, we can achieve great things.
Moreover, education plays a vital role in building a sustainable future. By learning about environmental science, sustainable development, and green technologies, we can become informed citizens and future leaders in this field. We can also share our knowledge with others, inspiring them to join the cause.
My vision for a sustainable future is a world where clean energy powers our cities, where forests and oceans thrive, and where every individual understands the importance of protecting our planet. It’s a challenging goal, but with determination, innovation, and collaboration, we can make it a reality.
Let’s take action today, for the sake of our planet and for generations to come.
Thank you!

Good morning, everyone!
In our increasingly interconnected world, cultural exchange has become more important than ever. It’s not just about experiencing different cuisines or festivals; it’s about breaking down barriers, fostering mutual understanding, and building a more harmonious global community.
Cultural exchange broadens our perspectives. When we interact with people from diverse backgrounds, we are exposed to new ideas, values, and ways of life. For example, during my study abroad program in Japan, I learned about the Japanese concept of “wa,” which emphasizes harmony and group cohesion. This concept challenged my individualistic mindset and taught me the importance of cooperation. Such experiences help us overcome cultural stereotypes and develop a more inclusive worldview.
Furthermore, cultural exchange promotes economic and social development. International tourism, for instance, boosts local economies as visitors explore new destinations and experience different cultures. At the same time, cultural exchange in the form of academic and business collaborations can lead to technological innovation and the sharing of best practices. Many multinational companies today thrive because they embrace cultural diversity in their workforce, leveraging different perspectives to drive creativity and problem - solving.
However, cultural exchange also comes with challenges. Misunderstandings may arise due to language barriers, cultural differences in communication styles, or conflicting values. To overcome these challenges, we need to approach cultural exchange with an open mind, respect for others, and a willingness to learn. We should strive to be cultural ambassadors, sharing our own culture while also being receptive to new ones.
In conclusion, cultural exchange is the bridge that connects us across borders and cultures. Let’s embrace it wholeheartedly, for it holds the key to a more peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive world.
Thank you!

Dear classmates,
Dreams are the driving force behind our actions, the stars that guide us through the darkness of uncertainty, and the fuel that keeps our spirits burning bright. They give meaning to our lives and inspire us to reach for the impossible.
From a young age, we all have dreams. Some of us dream of becoming doctors, engineers, or artists; others dream of making a positive impact on the world. These dreams shape our goals, influence our choices, and motivate us to work hard. When I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a writer. This dream led me to read voraciously, practice writing every day, and pursue a major in literature in college. Even though the path has been challenging, my dream has never faded. It has been the constant reminder of why I started and what I want to achieve.
Dreams also have the power to unite people. Throughout history, great leaders and social movements have been fueled by powerful dreams. Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream of equality inspired millions to fight for civil rights. His “I Have a Dream” speech not only expressed his personal vision but also resonated with people from all walks of life, sparking a movement that changed the course of history.
However, realizing our dreams is not always easy. There will be obstacles, setbacks, and moments of self - doubt. But it’s precisely in these difficult times that our dreams become even more important. They give us the strength to persevere, the courage to take risks, and the resilience to bounce back from failure.
So, my friends, never give up on your dreams. Nurture them, work towards them, and let them guide you on your life’s journey. For it is through our dreams that we can truly fulfill our potential and create a life that is both meaningful and fulfilling.
Thank you!
